The Avatar is taken in by Chrom, the prince of Ylisse, and his private army. The player controls a customized Avatar suffering from amnesia. The story is set on the continents of Archanea and Valm from the original Fire Emblem, focusing on a group of soldiers from the kingdom of Ylisse.
Features new to the series include adjustable difficulty levels, a mode that disables the permanent death of characters, and multiple camera perspectives in battle.
The gameplay, like previous Fire Emblem games, focuses on tactical movement of characters across a battlefield engaging enemy units, along with the ability to strengthen characters through relationships. The thirteenth game in the main Fire Emblem series, it was released in Japan in April 2012, and respectively in North American and Europe on February and April 2013. Fire Emblem Awakening is a tactical role-playing video game, developed by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo SPD for the Nintendo 3DS, and published by Nintendo.
